2024 Is Off To A Good Start

Major events in the music industry are due to take place this year. While the highly anticipated Superbowl halftime show awaits, the roster of music festivals is starting to emerge with rumored acts. Gossip includes Lana Del Rey and Tyler the Creator are to headline Coachella.
Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival, commonly known as Coachella, stands as a pillar in the world of music festivals. Founded in 1999 by Paul Tollett and Rick Van Santen, this annual event takes place at the Empire Polo Club in Indio, California. Over the years, Coachella has evolved beyond a mere music festival; it has become a cultural phenomenon.
One of the defining features of Coachella is its diverse lineup. Spanning multiple genres, the festival caters to a wide range of musical tastes. Headliners often include iconic and contemporary artists, creating a melting pot of sounds that appeal to a varied audience. This eclectic mix fosters an environment where attendees can explore new music while enjoying performances from their favorite artists.

According to the music blog “Stereogum”:
“In any case, both Lana Del Rey and Tyler The Creator make perfect sense as Coachella headliners. In recent years, the festival has drawn criticism for booking dominant pop stars as its headliners. Lana and Tyler, while hugely popular, don’t qualify. Both are critically beloved cult artists with alt-culture cachet and festival-headliner bona fides. Both are based in California, and both have played past Coachellas. Lana Del Rey played in 2014 and was slated for the top slot in 2020. Tyler, meanwhile, played Coachella in both 2015 and 2018.”
Not only are Lana and Tyler rumored to perform at the legendary music fest, but their alleged sets follow a successful vinyl sales year. Both artists had some of the top ten vinyl albums of 2023. Lana had two albums from her discography including her latest effort “Did You Know There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Blvd” which sold over 100k copies and ranked number 2, while Tyler’s 2019 critically acclaimed album “IGOR” ranked number 4 on the list.
